Ronald David Childs, 81, of Salem, SC, died after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's on April 12, 2024.
Ron was born in Conneaut, Ohio in 1942, the first child of the late Robert and Bernadine Childs. Ron graduated from Ohio University and worked in a variety of industries before learning computer programming and embarking on a career in Information Technology. After working tirelessly for a big corporation for a number of years, Ron realized he wanted more for his family and himself, so his entrepreneurial nature led him to starting his own small business. After many trials and tribulations, Ron's hard work, persistence, and dedication ultimately allowed him to build a successful computer consulting business that he enjoyed operating for over three decades.
Ron was highly active his entire life, enjoying spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, and traveling. Ron was patient, wise, and dependable- someone you could always count on to be there for you no matter what situation you were facing. Ron was very affable and outgoing, and liked to give back by volunteering in his community. He was a loving and devoted grandfather, and until the end, Ron was always thinking about the welfare of his family and those around him.
Ron is survived by his sons Frank, David, Timothy, Tony, and Michael; his sister Janette; his brother Robert; and his beloved grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl and sister Sandra.
Ron will be honored with a memorial on July 27, 2024 at 11:00 am, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio.
