Ronald Leo Brewer, who was born on Abraham Lincoln's birthday, February 12, 1950 has passed from this life April 11, 2012.
Ron was a Hilliard High School graduate, Class of '68, where he excelled on the football and baseball field and classroom. He was a graduate of Capital University and The Ohio State University where he received his Master's Degree in Education. Ron retired in 2009 from Southwestern City Schools where he mentored and taught at Buckeye Ranch. He was also headmaster of the evening school program. Ron was a pioneer in Ohio in the area of developing and administering successful programs aimed at improving attendance, grades, and graduation rates of at-risk high school students. Ron received the VFW Teacher of the Year Award in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his dad, D. Leo Brewer. Surviving family includes, mother, Waunita Pitt; sisters, Janet Guarino (Andy), Donna McComb (Mike), Cathy McCutcheon (Kent); nephews and nieces: Morgan, Melissa, Kaylee Wellman; James Kennedy; Ronnie, Brenda, Brandon, Caden Sherburn; Kelley, Sonny, Evan, CeCe Smith; Jason Sherburn; Michael, Ethan McComb; Rick, April, Kandice, Kyle, Racer Sherburn; many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; boyhood friends and still best buds, Gary Davis, Ric McCoy, Mike Haines, and Fred Heyl.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday April 15, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday April 16, 2012 at the funeral home by Pastor George Hattenfield. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hilliard, OH.
