Ronald Earl Remley, 96, of Centerburg, Ohio peacefully passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2022. He was born January 11, 1926 in Marion, Ohio to the late Mabel Edith and Vernor King Remley.
On August 19, 1950 he married the late Alice (Green) Remley and enjoyed 52 wonderful years together before her passing in October of 2002. They had a daughter, Ronda Remely-Gallick, who passed away suddenly in September of 1988. Also preceded in death is a great granddaughter, Ashlynn Victoria Grace Mason, a grandson, Paul Douglas Radwell and three brothers: Bob Remley, Walter Remley, and twin Donald Merle Remley.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda White of Newark, Ohio, LaDonna Remley of Port Orange, Florida, and Ronald King (Tonja) Remley of Centerburg, Ohio, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and extended family.
Ronnie was a warm-hearted person with a kind, ornery, goofy, loving spirit. He was the most amazing father, husband, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and neighbor.
Sergeant Ronald Earl Remley proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 1, 1944 until he was honorably discharged in 1952. Serving in World War II from 1944 until 1946, and the Korean War from 1950 to 1951, he specialized as an amphibious assault vehicle operator. He was very proud of his service and always enjoyed learning about military history.
Ronald was a hardworking man, who enjoyed many hobbies, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. As an avid camper and mushroom hunter, Ron traveled with family to Michigan, Missouri, Florida, and Arkansas. He also enjoyed road-tripping to Vinton and Wilkesville counties for the annual bean dinners to benefit the VFW. In the springtime he could be found planting and growing gardens to share with friends and neighbors, tending to his property, and riding his tractor. He also cared for many animals throughout the years including dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and birds. Ron cherished his dog Babe, and Skipper was his faithful companion to the end. After a hard day's work, Ron's sweet tooth would lead him to cherry pie, cookies, or going out for chocolate milkshakes!
When not busy outdoors, Ron would be whistling, singing, and tapping his foot to classic country such as Conway Twitty, George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Connie Smith to name a few.
He also enjoyed listening to audiobooks about animals, true crime and autobiographies. And every two years, Ron cheered on the gymnasts and figure skaters competing at the Olympics.
"The ones we love never go away,
They walk beside us even on this day.
Unseen, unheard, yet always near.
Still loved, still missed, and very dear."
