In loving memory of
Rose (Rosabelle) Morris, 1926-2023
Rose Morris, 96, passed peacefully into Heaven on February 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene R. Morris in 1975; her mother, Flora Belle Arms; her father Walter Arms, and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Dickson (John), sons Jeff Morris (Kristie) and Robert Morris; grandchildren Christina Harris, Joshua Harris (Brandy), Adam Morris; bonus grandchildren Becky Wiley (Jermaine), Jill Robinson (Tim) and Travis Harvey; great-grandchildren Miles, Theo, and Hunter.
Rose was very involved in Columbus City Schools from 1955-1980, serving on many committees working for the betterment of children's education. She was quite active in the Parent Teacher Association, serving as district, state and national president and representative to local, state and national conventions. She began working at Aetna Insurance in 1978, retired from Aetna in 1992 and worked for Marshall Fields until she retired at the age of 75. She then volunteered at Mount Carmel Hospital West and St. Ann's Hospital. She walked at least a mile a day until the last few months of her life.
To say she was independent is an understatement, and she always did it her way, whatever "it" was. Her favorite coffee mug was inscribed "Unstoppable," and that was her lifestyle. After losing her husband at a young age, she began to travel. Rose and her son, Jeff, traveled to Mexico. She went to Las Vegas, more than once, and later spent winter vacations in Florida and Myrtle Beach and took two cruises to and around the Hawaiian Islands. She was quite happy and a little social bug when she lived in a senior community, playing bingo, having coffee, donuts, and dinners with the ladies.
Although Rose was comfortable traveling and living alone, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday, just for that reason. She was loved and will be sorely missed. Isn't that all our goals?
Rose's family will receive friends at Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with a celebration of life immediately following. Internment will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery, the West Garden Mausoleum, Friday, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio would be appreciated.
