VANCE, Ross Robinson, of Hilliard, passed away August 27, 2005 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Ross was born January 17, 1926 to Dale Sr. and Leona Vance who preceded him in death. Ross was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Roach, nephew Tim Vance, infant niece Cookie Smith and stepson Charles McGonigle. Ross is survived by wife of 30 years, Mary Lou; brothers Dale, Jr. (June), Jim (Edna); sisters Alma Ball, Connie (Eldon) Sager, Barbara (John) Skaggs; six stepsons: John, Robert, Richard, Nick, Patrick and Kevin McGonigle and spouses. Ross is also survived by 18 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including the personnel of the Hilliard Police Department and the Pilgrim family of Newfoundland, Canada. Ross was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. While in the Navy, Ross served on the U.S.S. Pensacola and U.S.S. Atlanta. He also served on the Hilliard Planning and Zoning Commission's Board of Appeals and the Hilliard Police Auxiliary. He retired from Beechwold Hardware in Clintonville and was owner of Hilliard Tool Service. Services will be held 11:30AM Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Visitation 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, August 30 and 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday, August 31 at the funeral home. Pastor Eric Smith will be officiating with interment at Sunset Cemetery.
