Roy Lowe Jr., of Walton, West Virginia, passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving children. Born on July 1, 1937, to Mamie and Roy Lowe Sr., Roy’s life was a testament to strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication to family. His passing follows complications from a fall and COPD, but his legacy of love and perseverance endures.
Roy was a hardworking, strong, and kind man who dedicated his life to providing for those he loved. Roy was a proud member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 189, building a career marked by integrity, skill, and dedication. His work as a plumber and Plumbing Inspector for the Village of South Bloomfield earned him the deep respect of his peers. His involvement in the union was a significant source of pride, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and his community.
Roy’s passions extended beyond his profession. He was a devoted NASCAR and football fan, rarely missing a race or game on TV. He truly found happiness in the simple joys of life—tending to his immaculate garden and lawn, sipping coffee, and sharing a meal at Bob Evans; all while maintaining his perfectly styled hair. He embraced every moment with joy and contentment.
At the heart of Roy’s life was his family, especially his beloved wife, Bobbie Kay. Together, they shared a deep love for traveling, often visiting family across the country.
Roy was a family man to his core and found immense joy in his ever-growing family. Known for his quick wit and sharp comebacks, Roy had a natural gift for making people laugh. Whether cracking a joke or delivering a clever one-liner, he had a way of brightening every room he entered.
Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bobbie Kay Lowe, son Bradley Lowe, daughters Debra Voiles, Ann Remali, and Kay McGrath, granddaughter Amy Flowers, his parents Mamie and Roy Lowe Sr., brothers Ed and Fred Lowe, and sisters Wilma Nunamaker, Gay Pickrell, and Fay Dusenberry.
He is survived by his devoted children: daughters Tammy (Dave) Flowers and Patty Drumm, and sons Sam (Janet) Morris and Murphy Morris. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Joey Voiles, Sarah Voiles, Crystal Drumm, Jay Drumm, David (Shannon) Flowers, Julie (Jeff) Pearson, Mike (Norma) Morris, Matt Morris, Murphy Morris, Mandy McGrath, John McGrath, Angel Wolfe, Melissa Wolfe, and Rachel Wolfe; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister Doris Murray, sister-in-law Jeannie Lowe, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend and neighbor, Mike Lowery.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the OhioHealth Grant Hospital ICU staff for their compassionate care.
Roy Lowe Jr. was the foundation of his family, their rock. His love, strength, and dedication will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Roy’s memory to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio (OCAO.org), a cause close to the family’s heart.
Rest in peace, Roy, you were a remarkable Dad, Poppa, Husband, Uncle, Son, Brother, and Friend. Your legacy of love and strength lives on in all of us. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
