Rudolph P. Brandt

March 1, 1938 — October 18, 2023

Rudolph P. "Rudy" Brandt, 85, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2023. Left to treasure his memory are his children, Cheryl (Brenda) Wachinger of North Carolina; Cindy (Roger) Moulder of Enon; Christopher (Erin) Brandt of Columbus; his only grandchild, Lena Brandt, who he cherished; sister Betty Yaichner; 2 sisters-in-law Ida Brandt and Jane Brandt; and as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.

Rudy was preceded in death by his father Adolph Brandt and his mother Clara (Garbers) Brandt, his wife Anna Y. (Gehauf) Brandt and his brothers, Norbert, Reinhart and Richard Brandt, and brother-in-law Nelson Yaichner.

Born on March 1, 1938, in Hamler, Ohio, where he grew up on the family farm. After graduation from Hamler High School, he served proudly in the Army reserves. In the 1960s Rudy moved to Columbus Ohio, where he would call home. He married Anna on September 17, 1971.

Rudy was a faithful member of Worthington Christian Church. In his many years with multiple ministries he enjoyed helping with Sunday School, fellowshipped in men's weekly bible studies, and singing loudly in the church choirs. Rudy rejoiced in serving others, he spent time with Karios Prison Ministry and Hocking Hills Correction Prison through Karios. He also served the Columbus homeless community each week, making sandwiches for other members to deliver where needed.

When not serving his community Rudy's favorite was to spend time with his granddaughter, Lena. Each week he would pick her up from school and go on an ice cream adventure. Gramps loved Lena, and all the sugar treats as much as the Lord. Also, a love for listening to country music, learning the guitar, and dance parties in the living room. Game Day Saturdays were a sacred past time cheering on the Buckeyes and eating all the game day snacks with his son Chris.

Rudy's life was characterized by his gentle spirit, always putting his family's needs first. He was a beacon of strength and support; a role model whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. A true Christian, Rudy's commitment to the betterment of his community stands as a testament to his enduring legacy. Rudy's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His impact on our lives will continue to inspire us.
