Russell Maxon "Sam Spade the Flower Man" Hurst, 80, of Gahanna, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Claude Maxon and Annabelle (Townsend) Hurst on November 19, 1928, in Columbus, Russell is preceded in death by his father, Claude Maxon Hurst; sister, Marilyn Anderson; brother-in-law, Norman P. Jones. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Claude M. (Annabelle) Hurst; sister, Mrs. Norman P. (Claudette) Jones; sons, Tracy (Missy) Hurst, Nashville, GA, Scott (Kelly) Hurst, Gahanna, Beth (Jimmy) Green, Circleville, Teresa (Jason) Bush, Gahanna; brother-in-law, George Anderson; grandchildren, Blake Hurst, Danielle Heath, Britney Hurst, Emily Hurst, Sarah Hurst, Joey Russolillo, Anthony Russolillo, Nicole Green, Kasi Green, James Green III, Jacob Bush; great-grandchildren, Will Heath and Aidyn Hurst; nieces, nephews and many friends. Russell graduated from Gahanna High School and was the President of his senior class and then served as a Corporal in the US Army. Russell retired from the Rite Rug Company. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 4-7PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service to follow at 7PM. Interment will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 1 PM at Mifflin Twp Cemetery, Gahanna.
