Russell Thompson, 56, born August 7, 1956 of Plain City, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, February 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Russell spent the last year in a courageous battle against cancer.
He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting for mushrooms and arrowheads, camping and canoeing. Russell loved the outdoors and the Big Darby Creek in Plain City.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lena Thompson; brother Eugene Newell who died in Vietnam; granddaughter, Autumn Melvin.
Survived by his children, Devonna Thompson, Danielle (Joe) Foster, Russell Adam (Ashley) Thompson; grandchildren, Allison and Audrey Melvin, Lance, Lilyan and Eva Foster, Madison, Kadence and Paige Thompson; brothers, Mike, Ted, Jeff and Junior; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday March 5, 2013 at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Rd., Westerville, Ohio 43082.
