Ruth (Ganny) Hunter, 91, died Tuesday, February 15. She lived most of her life in Columbus, but was born in Ironton, Ohio to Thomas and Mary (Burns) Sinnott, June 4, 1919. Due to dire financial hardship, her family sent her and three of her young siblings to live and be schooled elsewhere. She graduated from Mount St. Mary's of Cincinnati in 1938. She later trained at the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Cincinnati. During the war years, she was employed at Ranco, a maker of binoculars. She later worked at North American Aviation during the 50's and 60's. Her finest hour in life came when she struggled, and succeeded, in keeping her family of four (ages 7 through 15) together, when widowed at the age of 38. Preceded in death by seven brothers, three sisters and two loving husbands: James "Les" MacNabb (1945-1957) and Jack "Paw Paw" Hunter (1964-1978). Survived by her daughter and caretaker, Sheila Samples, her other children, Wanda Lind, James and Robert (MaryLou) MacNabb, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Monday, February 21, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio.
