Ruth Ann Smith

February 6, 1932 — August 1, 2015

Ruth Ann Smith (Dixon) passed away with her daughters, Debbie and Diana, by her side. She was a long time resident of Lincoln Village and lived most of her life in the Columbus area. She was a devoted and loving mother to Debra S. and Larry M. Johnson, Diana J. and Dean E. Batchelor and Charles (Mike) and Nancy D. Smith. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Jami R. Potts, Noel M. Rife, Edie N. Piazza, and Sara S. Lamoreaux. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, baby Rose. The only thing she truly wanted in life was to be a mother and have a family.

Ruth Ann attended Starling Junior High School and graduated in 1950 from Central High School. She met and married Charles A. Smith in 1951 when they started the family she wanted so much. Ruth Ann was a loyal and dedicated employee of Franklin County Children's Services for over 30 years where she held many positions assisting and supporting case workers and executives alike. She was also a wonderful Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, Sunday School Teacher, and Bible School Teacher at Briggsdale Methodist Church and Lincoln Baptist Church. Her life revolved around her children as well as those children in need.

Our mother had many friends, nieces and nephews. We would like to acknowledge and thank her special friend, Rose Murnane. They met at FCCS and remained friends for over 40 years. We also want to acknowledge her niece, Nora Lynn Bolon, that she loved as her own.

In Loving Memory of
Ruth Ann Smith
"The greatest gift in life is love"
She came into this world loved,
She was loved in life,
And she left this world loved forever.

She said many times that Banga always told her "flowers are for the living"; therefore, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Franklin County Children's Services for a child in crisis.
