Ruth Davis

Ruth E. (Jahn) Davis, age 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 13, 2006. Ruth "Sis" was born July 8, 1924 in Grove City, OH the daughter of the late Everett Jahn and Elva (Breckenridge). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Everett Jahn, Jr. and nephew Bart Davis. Ruth was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who led a loving, caring and compasionate life. Remembered as the foundation of the family for her honesty, integrity and generosity, she was truly the glue which held them all together. Ruth was an avid baseball fan, bingo and card player. She retired after 30 years of federal employment in accounting and finance at Rickenbacker (Lockbourne) Air Force Base. Ruth was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, volunteer and shop manager at Grove City Cancer Thrift Shop, member of Moose Lodge #11 and member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 164. Ruth leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Wayne O. Davis (Davy); daughter, Sandra (Robert) Hateley; granddaughters, Amanda (John) Ware, Marisa Hateley; great-grandson, Jackson Ware; sister, Betty Yarian; brother, James (Patty) Jahn of Cape Coral, FL; brother-in-law, Richard (Joyce) Davis; nieces, Jean (Dennis) Halloran, Patti (Jim) Rauck, Jackie (Tom) Seiler, Mindy Davis; nephews, Mike Hayes, James Jahn, Jr. and Brad Davis. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:30 Tuesday, May 16, 2006 with funeral service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with Pastor Tim Muller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice, Grove City Cancer Thrift Shop or St. John's Evanagelical Lutheran Church.
