Ruth (Ann Burton) Dawson Wilt

August 8, 1943 — September 8, 2024

Hilliard

Ruth (Ann Burton) Dawson Wilt was born in Huntington, West Virginia on August 8, 1943, the daughter of Charles and Helen Burton. She passed away peacefully September 8, 2024, with husband and son close by, following 18 years living with Alzheimer’s. Always smiling and amazingly amiable even during her struggles with this disease. She was the epitome of positivity her entire life. She was quick to make friends and always supportive of others. Her love of kids meant she was always volunteering with children’s hospitals no matter where she was living.

Ruth attended public school in Columbus, Ohio at Linden-McKinley High School. She attended The Ohio State University and graduated from West Virginia State University with a degree in Finance. She was employed as an accountant, finance manager, and computer operations manager most of her adult life. She was an avid photographer, and her photos were used by several businesses in their advertising. She also ran a successful photo shop and portrait studio. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed people, and her photos reflected her love.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 40 years Carroll, her sister Janice Niemet, her children Deanna Howard, Maria Baker, Rocky Dawson, Stephanie Pyle, Michael Love, her grandchildren Lillie, Ava, Rafferty, Nicole, Amanda, Katie, and Paige, and great grandchildren Olivia, Elena, Killian, and Maddie.

A date, time, and place for her Celebration of Life will be announced later.

A tribute donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name at 800-272-3900 or at ALZ.org.
