Ruth A. Riester, 74, passed away February 12, 2011. She was born to Donald and Isabelle Shoemaker on September 25, 1936 in Marion, OH. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by siblings, Robert Shoemaker, Donald Shoemaker and Rhetta Shrohl. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dick; children, Kathy (Gary) Vanderpool, Eric Riester, Kurt Riester and Kristin Jackson; siblings, Daniel Shoemaker and Mary Perry; and grand-daughters, Ciarra and Alexa Jackson. Ruth loved gardening and cooking and baking for her family. Visitation Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3710 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana, Central Ohio Region, 2545 Farmers Drive, Suite 300, Columbus, OH 43235 or The American Cancer Society, Central Region Office-FRAN, 870 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215.
