Ruth Vivian Starkey Reed, 101, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 in Gahanna, Ohio.
She was born on August 19, 1921 in Elkins, West Virginia to the late Wesley and Hazel Bowman.
Ruth is preceded in death by husband, Robert Starkey; brother, Henry Bowman; grandchild, Theresa Copley.
Ruth is survived by daughters, Phyllis Sawyer, Carol (Frank) A Lucas, Patricia I Leonard; grandchildren, John Wilson, Denny (Angel) Wilson, Jodi (Bart) Drumm, Sherri (Charlie) Henderson; great-grandchildren, Angel (Brian) Stoolfire, Emmily Olinger, Bradley Wilson, Cole Wilson, Adam (Kelcie) Drumm, Amanda Meyer, Haley Drumm, Leann Everman, Neil Everman, Jackie Elizondo; great-great grandchildren, Camden, Delanie, Remington, Dax, Zane, Luke Oaklyn, Gabriella, Brent, Gabe; nieces, Karen Edmonds, Pam Wardrip and nephew, John Ladig.
Ruth enjoyed fishing, bowling and crocheting. She retired from Schottenstein's Department Store and was an Avon representative for several years. Ruth loved watching sports, especially football and golf. The Buckeyes were her favorite team and she enjoyed NFL games. She was a country music fan. Conway Twitty and George Jones were two of her favorite artists. Ruth enjoyed talking and sharing stories with her family. Ruth loved her cats and had several over the years.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231 with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
