Samuel Young Sr., 64, of Grove City, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 20, 1944, in Knoxville, TN, son of the late George Mathes and Minnie Marie Towe. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Mathes. He was a member of Amazing Grace Christian Church and retired from the City of Bexley with over 30 years of service. Sam is survived by his wife, Karen Blackford Young; sons, Samuel Young Jr. and Steve (Hannah) Young; daughter, Sandra (Stephen Lenihan) Ford; stepsons, Sean Morbitzer and Ron Gilmer; stepdaughter, Diane Gilmer; brothers, Alford, Jimmy and Elmer Mathes, Smokey Towe; grandchildren, Joshua Ford, Elizabeth, Mike and Brett Saultz, Jonathan Gilmer; beloved dog, Rocky and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City. Funeral service will be Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Sam was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that will be sadly missed.
