Samuel H. Johnson, Sr. "Tricky", 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born on September 27, 1930 in Vivian, West Virginia to Allen and Cheney Johnson.
Samuel is survived by children, Sharon Counts, Samuel Johnson, Jr., Stevan Johnson; grandchildren, Eddie Johnson, LaTia Early; great-grandchildren, Bryan Johnson, Jr., Breanna Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Jr., RyRy Early, Harper Johnson; sister, Lola Winkfield and a host of family and friends.
Samuel was a kind hearted person who would do anything for people. He never met a stranger. Samuel was affectionately known as "pops". He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially Bid Whist, and going to cabarets. Back in the day he enjoyed having people over to his home for cookouts. Samuel loved soul food and was very picky about what he ate. He would definitely let you know if he didn't like something you gave him. His favorite restaurants were Bob Evans, O'Charley's, Red Lobster and BJ's.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
