Sandra Lee Dossa

March 30, 1947 — December 23, 2024

Columbus

Sandra Lee Dossa (nee Ribar), age 77, went to the Lord peacefully on December 23, 2024 with family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James; children, Ellen (Randy) Henning; Jackie (Ron) Reycraft; Bill (Michelle) Norton; Julie (Robert) Hutchison-Thompson; grandchildren Paul Henning, Bethany (Chris) Fife, Erin Henning, Brianne (Jeremy) Walburn, Josh Henning, Kyle (Emma) Norton, Aaron Reycraft, and Peter Thompson; six great-grandchildren; dear siblings Gloria Dossa, Kenny Ribar, Marge Jacobs and sister-in-law Gail Ribar; as well as many nieces and nephews. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Margaret Ribar, and four siblings Robert, Dennis and Gerald Ribar and Rita Beitel.

Sandra was deeply devoted to family. She welcomed and nurtured every friend we brought home. She delighted in her family and by extension the family we gifted her. She was always fiercely protective of those she loved.

A formidable woman, Sandra always believed ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way’ and she faced any difficulty with a determination to overcome it. She lived a full and adventurous life while always exhibiting grit, resilience and her trademark sense of humor. Sandra experienced increasing peace in her Catholic faith in recent years and was comforted in her daily prayer life.

Sandra never did anything by halves. If she was going to bake, you can be certain that she was going to have a counter full, a table full, AND a freezer full of cookies and other delectable desserts (old Slovak staples, as well as new American favorites). If she was going to sit down and crochet some blankets, we would have large bags of them to donate to the church for newborns and seniors. Or they would go to the veterans through the VFW. She started every day with copious cups of coffee and variety or sudoku puzzles or curled up with one of her many novels, be it mystery, suspense, or romance. She was always a voracious reader and life long learner.

Family and friends will be received at a Gathering on Tuesday, January 7th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Ln., Powell, OH 43065. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 8th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd., Powell, OH 43065. Friends of all denominations are welcome. Interment will take place at at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
