Sandra Lauer

Sandra Lee (Davidson) Lauer, born July 29, 1941, passed at her residence in Grove City, OH on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the age of 71. Sandy was a victim of colon cancer, which she battled for 11 months. An Ohio native, she was born in Columbus, and lived most of her life in the Central Ohio area.

Preceded in death, are her parents, Robert and Opal "Mickey" Davidson. Surviving relatives are husband of 33 happy years, George P. Lauer III; sisters, Linda Skidmore and Sharon Dodge; children, Robyn (Roger) Retterer and Charles (Shelley) Stephenson; children by marriage, Jill Lambert, George W. (Tamara) Lauer, Julie (Kevin) Johnson, and Jeffrey (Lori) Lauer; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Sandy graduated as the 1959 Class Salutatorian, from Millersport High School. She was very involved with several clubs, performed in many plays, and served as Student Council Representative, during her school years. During the last several years, Sandy is well known as a loving care-giver to babies and toddlers, as she had a day-care in her home. She took great pride in giving children a wonderful start to their lives by caring for them, providing fun days, and teaching them wonderful manners. For a period of time she also cared for the elderly, and during that time she went back to school to become a Nurses Aid. Sandy enjoyed traveling, quilting, reading, and doing weekend trips with the motor home. She was very active with two motor home clubs, Mid-West Coachman, and Buckeye Bounders. Throughout the years, she has traveled most of the United States.

Visitation Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's memory to Mount Carmel Hospice C/O Mount Carmel Foundation, 6150 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213-9924.
