Scott Wayne Stoops, Sr.

Scott Wayne Stoops Sr., age 48, of Columbus passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2022 due to pneumonia and complications. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Stoops and Eula Estep; son, Scott Wayne Stoops Jr.; and brothers, Bernard Stoops (Spank) and Kevin Stoops.

Scott is survived by a loving family who will miss him dearly, including his significant other, Jennifer Welch and his dog Nitro; children, Sierra Stoops and Nick Stoops whom he fathered with Dorinda Hostottle; stepmother, Deborah Linderman Cornette; siblings: Wendy, Ogie (Buddy), Orville (Rocky), Dena, Christy, Kathy, Mike and Troy; grandchildren: Aiden, Xavier, Sophia, Sawyer, Reed and Hazel; along with an abundance of life long friends and family members.

Scott was kind-hearted, exceedingly charming, good humored and he was a fighter. We all know he left us with incredible life altering memories that will continue to fill us with joy and laughter every day. Scott would like to let everyone know that his work here is not done. He will continue to live in the hearts, minds and spirits of his family and friends as he continues to provide comfort and joy once more.

Scott spent his life as a jack of all trades with interests in classic cars, motorcycles, construction, and was a true craftsman of many professions. Every life story is unique and what made Scott unique was his uncanny ability to add humor to all 48 years of his life.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway.
