Scott Brooks Tanner, 58, of West Jefferson, Ohio, passed away March 27, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1966 to Jerry Tanner and Donna (Rea) Regis.
Scott worked as a stone mason for 30+ years and built bridges, fireplaces, pillars, etc all over the greater Columbus area. He left his mark on the city with every stone he cut and laid. More important than his work was his family. To all his beloved nieces and nephews he was their goofy "uncle Scott". To his children he was their embarrassing superman Dad. To his grandsons he was "Pawpaw". His greatest joy in life was being a father and then a grandfather. Scott was known for his utilitarian "fashion" sense with his iconic cargo shorts and cut-off tees. Anyone who knew him was sure to have a unique "Scott Story" because of his one-of-a-kind personality and shamelessness. Scott loved anything involving speed or danger; he spent many hours riding his 4-wheelers around West Jefferson and Wayne National Forest with his family. He also enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms. Despite not being a large man, Scott had a big appetite and could put away record amounts of food. He especially revered steak, but also enjoyed eating any/all leftovers no one else wanted. In his later years, Scott spent much time at his sister's house with their mom; watching ball games and eating together. He cherished the times when Donna visited from out of state; she was his heart and he loved her immensely.
He is preceded in death by his Father. Surviving family includes, wife, Valerie Tanner, children, Scott Tanner Jr. and Maggie Tanner, mother, Donna Regis, grandsons Colin and Harlan Tanner, and a sister Gwen (Jerry) Pence.
