Shante Marie Gambrel

Shanté M. Gambrel, 44, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away May 11, 2023.

Shanté was born September 18, 1978 in Newark, Ohio to David W. and Kimberly Sue (Rakaska) Gambrel. Her grandparents were Emily and Bud Gambrel of Newark, and Evelyn and Charles Rakaska of Heath, all deceased.

Shanté is a graduate of Newark Senior High School. She loved being outdoors and camping. Her hobbies included her many fish tanks, gaming with friends, arts and crafts, Renaissance fairs, cooking, and fencing just to name a few. She loved learning new things. Whether leaving googly-eyed calling cards, mushroom hunting in the forest, or swordfighting in the fields at Pennsic, she lived her life as she wished and made us better for it.

Shante was an impossible woman. Impossibly kind, impossibly creative, and impossible to forget.

Shanté will be deeply missed by her many friends and especially her cat Kumo, the love of her life. She is survived by her aunts Kathy and Sandra, her brother Michael, and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins, her niece Kimmy, and by the many friends whose lives she changed.

Shanté was preceded in death by her parents.
