Shirley Ann Jones (Smith) passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023 at her residence at First Community Village,

Columbus, Ohio. Shirley was born June 23, 1936 in Piqua, Ohio to the late William and Ester (Sherwood) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, and brother Bruce Smith. She is survived by her son Christopher (Tammy) Jones, daughter Jennifer (Dave) Taurone, grandchildren Brittany and Derek Jones, Casey Lax, Nick Bales, Jake Bales, Megan and Ryan Taurone and great grandchildren Alexis, Raelynn, Logan and Liam along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister Susie Johnson and sister in law's Patsy Jones and Lee Smith.

Shirley attended Piqua Central High School and graduated in 1954. She then attended Miami University (Ohio) and graduated with a degree in education. She taught kindergarten in Piqua and later taught at West Mound and Devonshire elementary in Columbus City Schools.

Shirley was a resident of Forest Park and later a long-term resident of Minerva Park where her landscaping was often featured during garden tours. She enjoyed bridge club and also loved to sing and sang with the Sweet Adelines of Columbus for many years.

Shirley loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives. She loved to teach, help and was extremely caring and will be missed by all that knew her.
