Shirley Anne Whalen

Shirley Anne Whalen, 78, went home to Jesus on Friday, August 9, 2024 at her home in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on May 7, 1946 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Josephine Clardy and Kenneth Collins. 

She was a faithful follower of Christ, and one of her greatest joys was serving her church family. She helped with the communion ministry, altar flower ministry, and International ministry, among others. She also enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, crafting, and baking, and she loved to bless friends and family with the gifts she made. 

She is survived by her husband Patrick; children: John (Shelley) Quitter, Matthew (Diadem) Quitter, Mark (Melissa) Quitter, and Michael Quitter; step-children: Timothy (Gail) Whalen and Daniel (Beth) Whalen; grandchildren: Emily (Dennis) Van Fossen, Ryan (Haley) Quitter, Amy Quitter, Sara (Matthew) Quitter Snow, Manoah Quitter, Cody Quitter, Nathan Quitter, Bailey Quitter, Jacob Quitter, Joshua Quitter, Abby Quitter, Summer Whalen, Greg Whalen; and great-grandchildren: Ellis Van Fossen, Glenn Van Fossen, Kaidan Reid, Kermitt Nelson. 

The family would like to sincerely thank Mt. Carmel Hospice (especially Tonia and Judith) for their compassionate care in Shirley's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Pregnancy Decision Health Centers, organizations Shirley valued and supported.
