Sidney T. Johnston mother, aunt, sister, daughter, and friend passed away on May 6, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on April 1, 1934, in Saratoga Springs, NY, the daughter of Brenton and Dorothy Taylor.
Sidney attended and graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. While at St. Lawrence, she skied and hiked in the Adirondack mountains. Sidney also spent time along and on the St. Lawrence River. Both places were near and dear to her heart.
Sidney moved to Columbus, Ohio. In her lifetime, she taught English and worked at Ohio State University.
Sidney loved to ski, hike, and read. She had a deep love of nature and would spend many weekends exploring the great outdoors.
She is predeceased by her brother Steven B. Taylor, her son Jeffrey Johnston, her nephew Steven Andrew Taylor, and her parents.
Sidney is survived by her sister-in-law Johanna (Herndon, VA) nephew Brent and his wife Annette, (Lisbon, NY), niece Cyndy (Fairfax, VA), nephew Ben and his wife Susana, (Bristow, VA) and her nephew’s wife Geneva (Fruitland Park, FL).
A private memorial service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local nature center.
