Sidney dedicated many years of his career as a PC Programmer at the Cleveland Call and Post. His professional journey not only showcased his technical expertise but also reflected his commitment to excellence and service to those he worked with. He earned an Associate's Degree from The Ohio State University in Communications, a testament to his intellectual pursuits and lifelong love of learning.
A proud Army veteran, Sidney served his country with honor during the Korean War, exemplifying the courage and dedication that characterized his life. He carried this spirit into his everyday interactions, known for his immense intelligence and willingness to help others. While he could be blunt in his conversations, often expressing himself freely, it was always paired with a genuine desire to assist those in need. Those who knew him recognized him as an all-around great man, whose wisdom and kindness left a lasting impression.
Sidney was an avid reader, a passion that fueled his vast knowledge and ability to engage in thoughtful discussions. He also loved to cook. When he wasn't cooking or reading, he enjoyed keeping up with current events by watching the news, demonstrating his deep engagement with the world around him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Martha (Davis) Jackson, father James Mills, mother, Arretha Geter, bonus daughter, Asiah Jones, and grandson, Chance Douglas. Each of these relationships contributed to the fabric of Sidney's life, and they remember him with love and fondness.
Sidney leaves behind a loving family, including daughter Arretha Mills of Columbus, Ohio, brother, Lacey Geter, life-partner of over 40 years, Hester Jones, and bonus son, Hassan Jones, all of Cleveland, Ohio. His grandchildren Chad Douglas Jr, Ahterra Douglas, and DeShawn Mills-Woodson (Columbus, Ohio.) He shared a deep bond with his life partner, Hester Jones, and embraced his role as a bonus father to Hassan Jones. He enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. All ensuring that his spirit will continue to thrive through the memories they hold dear.
