Mr. Sidorn Huy of Columbus, Ohio passed away on September 30, 2015 with the women he loved most in this life, his daughter and the mother of his children by his side. Sidorn, a faithful Buddhist, received his final prayer of blessings by the Monks of the Columbus Buddhist Temple and his soul was peacefully received as he was surrounded by his sons, daughter, and grandchildren.
Born on June 3, 1952 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Touch Pao and Kong Huy, he led an interesting life. He met his wife, started a family, and worked in the Cambodian military until his country became unstable. He was a brave man that found a way to bring his wife, two sons Veasna and Chamroeun (Teresa), and his daughter Chanda, to the United States. It was quite the journey, but with the help of Jim and Audra Horning and a loving Mennonite Community, he got his family safely to Pennsylvania where his fourth child and third son, Mong (Sokie) was born. During the next few decades, Beth Green and her entire Church helped Sidorn's family, financially and spiritually. He started as a dishwasher at Jimmy Tsangs in Pittsburgh and made it to a Chef within a few years. He was a very hard worker and tried a few different ventures to provide for his family, including a food truck.
In 1998, he and his family moved to Columbus, OH where he worked at AYM. He enjoyed Cambodian food, watching the Steelers and Buckeyes football games with his daughter and sons, and watching Thai, Chinese, and Korean movies. He loved spending his weekends at flea markets, always looking for that great deal. He was a good man, the embodiment of love, joy, and service. With his family he built a bond of loyalty and love. He is in a better place - experiencing now the feelings he gave to those whom loved him: peace, comfort, and strength.
