Sondra Beverage

December 7, 1942 — November 13, 2023

Sondra (Turos) Beverage, of Columbus, passed away on November 13, 2023. Sandy was dealing with Alzheimer's disease for the last several years of her life and was lovingly cared for by her husband Bob of 62 years, who passed unexpectedly just eight weeks before. The family takes great comfort in knowing that Bob and Sandy have been quickly reunited with one another in the next life.

Sandy was born in Columbus on December 7, 1942 to the late Leonard and Maria Turos. Her brother, Albert Turos, also preceded her in death in 2012. Her brother, Jerry Turos, survives her as well as several nephews and nieces. She married Robert Beverage on December 9, 1961, in Columbus. After over 35 years working for Metropolitan Life Insurance, Sandy enjoyed a long retirement and was always up for a good time. She loved traveling, card games and reading, playing the organ, attending plays and musicals, and for many years she even bowled on a weekly bowling league. She and Bob were season ticket holders for the Ohio State Women's Basketball team and loved watching them play. Besides her sweetheart Bob, her only other true love was Tweety Bird, which she kept a collection of.

Sandy will be remembered for living in a way that we all long to do; that is , to spend time on Earth in ways that brought her joy and fulfillment, with a lasting, true and loyal partnership. God be with you until we meet again, Sandy.

Sandy requested that this poem be put with her obituary.

When I Am Gone
By Mosiah Lyman Hancock

When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun
Forget That I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day
Forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay
And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.
