Sofia Jaramillo Albornoz

Sofia Jaramillo Albornoz, passed away on July 9th, 2024, in Grove City, Ohio. Born to Ignacio Jaramillo and Fortunata Albornoz on September 30th, 1930 in Huanuco, Peru, she was a beacon of light and warmth in the community she dearly loved.

Sofia’s love extended to her four children, Maria Margarita Silva, Juan Antonio Arrazabal, Carmen Maria Arrazabal, and Zoila Elvira Arrazabal, who remember her as a nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting meal or an engaging story. Her nine grandchildren, Carlos (Katin), Monica, Lourdes, Pamela, Noelia, Antonio (Tonito), Antonio (Tony), Francis and Pia, and fifteen great grand-children, Alvaro, Leonardo, Angello, Mauricio, Luis, Claudia, Nicholas, Danna, Cristobal, Valentino, Catalina, Maria Grazia, Alessia, and Sofia will carry her legacy of kindness and joy.

Sofia was an avid gardener, master of word searches, and an amazing cook. Her famous holiday meals were the highlights of family gatherings. 

Predeceased by her parents, her husband Alejandro, her siblings Samuel and Theresa and her grandchild Luis Guillermo, Sofia’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a community that was better for her presence.

Visitation to honor and celebrate the life of Sofia Jaramillo Albornoz will be held on July 13th, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Following the visitation, there will be a Funeral Mass at 3:00pm.
