Stephanie Virginia Jones-Weatherspoon, affectionately known as "Steph" was born on January 24, 1949, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born to Elizabeth Banks Robinson and William (Ketchup) Russell. Elizabeth married John Jones to raise Stephanie as the oldest of four (4) children. On February 9, 2024, at the age of seventy-five (75), Stephanie was called home to be with the Lord after a fight with multiple health challenges.
Stephanie loved the Lord and developed a deep personal relationship with him. Stephanie was a loving wife, to Floyd Weatherspoon for forty (40) years. Together they raised two children, Autumn and Christopher. Stephanie is a grandmother of one, Jaylen Elizabeth Weatherspoon. She adored her children and grandchild. Her time spent with family and extended family was most precious to her. For Stephanie, holidays were festive with a gift for all who visited with her.
Stephanie graduated from Chillicothe High School and pursued an advanced education studying health care. Stephanie received an Associate Degree from Roane State Community College, Bachelor's Degree from Capital University, and a Master's degree from Ohio University in Healthcare Management. Stephanie's legacy of talent, kindness, and unwavering passion for healthcare will continue to inspire and resonate with all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Stephanie retired as a Director of Healthcare Management specializing as a Respiratory Therapist. As a young mother Stephanie made the decision to follow her career in respiratory due to having a daughter born with respiratory and breathing disorders. After Stephanie retired from the health care system, She launched a catering business, SilverSpoon. She was versatile and talented.
Stephanie was predeceased by her parents, William Russell, John Alfred Jones, Elizabeth Banks Robinson Jones, and a brother, John David Jones. She leaves to cherish a loving and devoted husband, Floyd Weatherspoon; children, Autumn Weatherspoon and Christopher Weatherspoon both of Columbus, Ohio, and one (1) grandchild, Jaylen Weatherspoon two (2) sisters, Robin A. Jones, California; and Khandi Jones-Stewart (Calvin), Columbus, Ohio. Stephanie shared the love of several nieces and nephews, and a host of great-nieces/ nephews as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Stephanie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life and spirit. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts. Stephanie was an awesome Matriarch of a sister and didn't hesitate to tell you, "I am the oldest." With much love, you will be missed.
Stephanie will be buried in Chillicothe, Ohio at a later date.
