Stephen Beasley Pickett, aged 71 years old, of Athens and Columbus, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his loving family at home on December 9, 2021.
He lived a life of service to others as a Vietnam Army veteran, barber, police officer, instructor, diplomatic bodyguard, gunsmith, and wedding officiant. He touched many lives through kindness, diplomacy, humor, and education.
He is survived by his wife E. Karen Pickett, special uncle Clyde (Judy) Beasley, brother Barry (Brenda) Pickett, brother Tracy (Traci) Pickett, sister Rhonda (Doug) Vaughn, his daughter Stephanie (Vladimir) Komarov, his stepdaughter Heather (Carlos) Estremera, stepson Anthony (Holly) Hewitt, stepdaughter Brandie (Troy) McCutchen, many step-grandchildren including Jaylin, Blake, Rex, Dante, Maya, and Kayla, great step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless "adopted" kids and friends.
Stephen was an honest, uncomplicated man that didn't ask for much. He requested a celebration of life in the Spring for friends and family to honor his memory instead of a traditional funeral. In lieu of flowers or gifts for the family, the family requests that a donation be made to The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) in his honor.
To know him was to love him, and to love him was to know him. Steve will be missed beyond measure.
