On Sunday, August 8, 2021, Stephen Lamar Stevenson affectionately known as Esteban, cherished brother, son, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 27.
Stephen was born on February 10th, 1994 in Pittsburgh, PA to Stephanie Stevenson and Earl Pope. He was raised by his grandmother, Alice Stevenson, in South Carolina where he graduated high school and briefly attended Spartanburg Methodist College.
Esteban had a passion for theater, music, and the Spanish language. By the time he finished high school, he had over 97 performances and 900 hours of service under his belt with Imagine That. Stephen was a self taught musician.
He learned how to play the piano and keyboard in addition to writing and performing his own music. Stephen also had a great love for the Spanish language. In middle school he taught himself how to speak Spanish by watching telenovelas and listening to music.
Stephen was known for his charming spirit and commitment to chasing his dreams. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. It was his greatest joy to be an uncle and big brother.
Stephen always stood up for those that could not defend themselves and remained true to himself at all times.
Stephen is survived by his grandmother Alice Stevenson, his mother Stephanie Stevenson, his siblings, Trice & Lawnna Stevenson and Jazzmand & Derrick Pope, his aunt and uncle Waldean & Steve Stevenson, as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231.
