Stephen J. Voit, 78, passed away at home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in Westerville, Ohio.
He was born on March 1, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Leopold and Mary Voit.
Steve is preceded in death by grandchild, Andrew Kessler.
Steve is survived by wife, Susan Voit; children, Diane (Tony) Eden, Mark (Kari) Voit, David (Betsy Birt) Voit; step-children, Laura (Randall) Drum, Greg Kirkendall; 11 grandchildren, Katey (Colin) Singleton, Luke Voit, Nicole (Norman) Brenneman, Becca Kessler, Sophia Eden, Claire Drum, Nathan Drum, Suzanne Kirkendall, Christian Kirkendall, Ethan Kirkendall and Emily Kirkendall; great-grandchildren, Samuel Singleton, Thaddeus Singleton, Nora Brenneman, Leo Brenneman; siblings, Linda Freehill, Donna (Bill) Fulghum, Charles (Jan) Voit, and Janet (Dennis) Thomas.
Steve attended Aquinas College High School "63" and Franklin University. He served in the USAF in the 121st Tactical Fighter Group at Rickenbacker and served at Kunsan AFB, Korea after the Pueblo Incident in 1968-1969. He worked in distribution engineering for AEP for 37 years and worked for Lifestyle Communities in engineering for 6 years. Steve served on the DeSales High School board and the St. Anthony Athletic Commission. He loved OSU football and playing cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed boating at Apple Valley and camping around Ohio and Florida. Steve became a snowbird during the winters in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 East Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army in Steve's honor.
