Steve Blackburn, 57, died unexpectedly in a plane accident on July 25, 2011.
Steve was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy Blackburn. Beloved husband of 20 years to Debbie Wiedwald, loving father of Sarah, Jessica and Jackson. Dear brother of Bill (Brenda) Blackburn and Brenda Baars. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He loved his family and was proud of his children. Steve was the owner of Blackburns Chimney Sweeps and mentored many in the chimney sweep industry. Steve was passionate about many topics including politics and his favorite sports teams OSU, Browns and Reds. Steve was a generous person and a friend to all. Many enjoyed his cooking talents. Steve was a proud 29+ year member of Narcotics Anonymous. He was a long time resident of Grove City and loved his fellow Beechgrove friends. Steve was a Mason. He will be greatly missed by many. A Memorial service for Steve Blackburn will be held Monday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Broad St., Columbus. Burial will take place at Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123. A reception following the burial will be held at the Elks Lodge, 2140 Sonora Drive, Grove City. The family will greet friends before the memorial at the church, and at the reception following the burial. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Success Beyond the Classroom Foundation, 5575 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43228, a non-profit organization supporting Southwestern City Schools athletes and band members with pay to play fees.
