Susan Wantz

Susan Wantz, 72, of Columbus Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Susan (Susie to many); was born September 19, 1949 in Lodi, Ohio to Howard and Effie (Jacot) Schaum.

Susan loved to paint and art of all kinds. Making art wasn't so much a hobby as it was a way of life. Her keen sense of humor and amazing sense of empathy made her dear to those she touched. Susan worked in administrative jobs in the 70's and 80's, followed by a stint at some local potteries, before settling into administrative work for the Perry County Library System. Susan and her husband, Mike, retired to Savannah Georgia in 2009, where they embraced their love of animals and beach life. They worked with various rescue agencies and fostered (often adopted) many dogs in their home. Eventually they chose to return to Ohio with their grandchildren. They have had the last 5 years in Columbus closest to those they cared about most. Susan's husband of 52 years, Michael R. Wantz, followed Susan, and passed later the same day.

Susan will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law Maggie Wantz-Egbert, and John Egbert; grandchildren Harley and Lydia Egbert, brother Jim Schaum; sister Mary Lynn Frary and their families.

The family is delaying services, until a time when it is better advised for people to gather. When a date and location have been selected for a Memorial, all that would be interested will be notified. In lieu of flowers please send any memorial contributions to (httpl://www.ggrlc.org).
