Terry Warne Barr, 72, of Westerville, passed away July 24, 2024 at home. He was born in Moline, Illinois on April 11, 1952 to the late Kenneth and Betty (Wilkinson) Barr. He married Jill P. Jackson on July 13, 1974, spending over 50 years together, she survives.
Along with his wife, those left to cherish his memory include sister-in-law, Ellen Barr; brother-in-law, Glenn Rogerson; sister-in-law from Jill’s side, Sheryl Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many other family members and dear friends.
Along with his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his three siblings Sharon Rogerson, Gerry Barr, and Perry Barr; parents-in-law, Ed and Pauline “Polly” (Shook) Jackson; and brother-in-law, Jim Jackson.
Terry graduated in the early 70’s from Moline High School. He went on to attend at Grace College in Wynona Lake, Indiana, studying Phycology and Bible. Being from Illinois, he met Jill Jackson, from Ohio and fell for each other. Terry graduated in 1974 from Grace with a Double Major Bachelor’s, shortly before their wedding. Terry moved to join Jill in Ohio, working at Unilit Christian Material Repository. The Barr’s did not stay in one place for long.
They moved to Alaska from 1976 to 1979, managing Anchor Christian Bookstore in Kenai and Anchorage, Alaska. Shortly following, The Barr’s moved to Michigan. Terry started working for Zondervan Bookstore, in Flint, Michigan. Shortly later, still with Zondervan, he cared for their store in Peoria, Illinois. Early 80’s, The Barr family moved back to Columbus, where Terry began working for The Christian Armory. He also became a sales rep for a Christian bookstore group in Oklahoma.
The Barr family returned again to Columbus in 1998. Terry and a friend opened a cleaning firm upon return, caring for clients in the Columbus area for a couple of years. In 2003 Terry began working for Meijer, specifically the Westerville location. Terry loved and cared for his 3rd shift team, making many friendships that lasted over his 21-year career with Meijer.
When he wasn’t working, Terry loved to travel. Jill and Terry loved a good day trip, anything to get out and explore. Their favorite trip was to Galena, Illinois; but they loved an opportunity for a peaceful space to sit and overlook the Mississippi River. Terry thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to put puzzles together with Jill through the years. He also enjoyed spending time with Jill, along with their best friends, Jim and Judy Rees.
