Thelma Louise Messenger went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2023 at the age of 96. She was born on July 4, 1927 to Joseph Raymond Fattig and Florence Louise (Swick) Fattig of Blacklick, OH who predecease her.
She graduated from Marion Harding High School and worked for several years as a window dresser for the J.C. Penney company of Marion, OH. She was introduced to her handsome future husband James Robert Messenger by one of his five sisters who also worked for J.C. Penney. They were married on September 3, 1952 and welcomed their only child Deborah Sue on December 7, 1954.
Thelma was a homemaker and seamstress and later worked as a draftsperson/checker for the Fairfield Engineering Company in Marion. James and Thelma were faithful members of the Jesus Only Gospel Tabernacle and later the United Pentecostal Church, both of Marion. She moved to Grove City, OH in 1993 to live with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter and caregiver Deborah Sue Messenger of Grove City, OH and sister Maybelle (Macy) (Fattig) Cruzan of Shell Knob, MO as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James Robert Messenger, sister Helen Marie (Fattig) Wood of Prospect, OH and brother Raymond (Buddy) Willard Fattig.
No calling hours or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Marion.
