Thomas Dewey "Alabama" Newell, 66, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on August 24, 2013.
Thomas fought a long hard battle with cancer for 22 years. He was born on May 7, 1947.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry H. Newell Sr. and mother Doris L. Newell Hill and grandson Thomas Dale Newell II.
Surviving family includes, wife of 40 years, Nellie G. Newell, children, Thomas D. (Kat) Newell, James Earl (Renee) Newell, Lisa Ann (Allen) Smithson, Lois (Bob) Larie, Pam (Steve) Brown. Also survived by his brother, Henry H. (Betty) Newell Jr., a very special aunt, Lois C. Hubbard. Thomas also raised two grandchildren, Jonathan Newell and Shawna Newell as his own as well as one niece, Judonna Newell as his own. Also surviving are grandchildren Jennifer (Justin) Eseman and Steven Brown Jr. He had a total of 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, August 30, 2013 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
