Thomas Hatfield

Thomas Hatfield, 86, put his little hand in God's big hand and entered his heavenly home on May 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by parents, Lewis and Bessie Hatfield; sisters, Ruth and Jenny; and brother, Johnny. Tom is survived by loving wife of 65 years, Rachel Hatfield; children, Tom (Chris) Hatfield, Lewis (Marylou) Hatfield, Michele (Gary) Schrecengost, and Carolyn (Mike) Ross; grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield, Hollie (Nick) Jones, Crystal Wagner, Addie (Kory) Hatfield, Jesse Hatfield, Gary (Cassie) Schrecengost, Cody Schrecengost, Kiley (Zach) Montgomery, and David (Teresa) Ross; great-grandchildren, Travis Moore, Evan, Emery and Rhett Jones, Jake and Mallory Wagner, Anthony, Emma, Gage and Carter Hatfield, Rayce and Ryder Schrecengost, Jase Montgomery, and Evelyn Ross; sister, Erma Marcum; special friend and Pastor, John Meade; many other special family members and friends.

Tom served our country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957. Tom retired from Sheet Metal Workers Local #24 after a 39 year welding career. He spent the last 15 years of his career at Wolf Metals. After retirement, Tom served as a deacon starting in October of 1999 at Southwest Freewill Baptist Church. He was well known for his spotless truck and enjoyed spending time in his garage keeping it that way. Tom enjoyed bowling, watching Dallas Cowboys and OSU football, working out, sitting on the porch drinking coffee and eating orange popsicles, visiting sick and shut ins with his church, and loved spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved Jesus.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA and Mt. Carmel Hospice, especially Michelle for their wonderful care.

Visitation Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 3-7pm at Southwest Freewill Baptist Church, 1542 Greenleaf Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral Service Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11am, also at the church. Interment to follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, OH.
