Thomas E. Holmes, Sr., age 70, of Grove City died June 15, 2007. Tom was born in Columbus, Ohio, and married for 50 years to the late Emma L. Holmes. Tom was a 40+ year member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 189 and spent the last years of his career employed by his "favorite" contractor the Bruner Corporation. In the late 50's and early 60's, Tom drove stock cars at Columbus Motor Speedway and Powell Speedway. As his family grew, he coached baseball and attended countless sporting events, school plays, school musicals, and band concerts -- he was his son's biggest fan. Tom was creative using his expert welding skills to fabricate pipe into belt buckles, bowls, and other clever & useful things. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was once very active in the Knights of Columbus, Pope John XXIII Council. Dad was a selfless family man with a great sense of humor. Tom is survived by his sons Tom Jr. (Cathy), Bruce (Kathi), Mike (Kendra), and Jeff (Jennifer LeMaster) Holmes; grandchildren Colleen, Ian, Dylan, Colin, Kaylind, Jarad, Travis, Blake, April, and Michelle; several great-grandchildren; his brother Robert (Marjorie) Holmes; and other loving relatives. Friends may call from 1:00-4:00PM Sunday, June 17, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway Avenue, Grove City, Ohio with a prayer service beginning at 1:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM June 18, 2007 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
