Thomas C. Pritchard

Thomas Carl Pritchard, 77 of Columbus passed away peacefully May 16, 2021. He was born September 22, 1943 in Neptune, New Jersey, son of the late Carlyle J. and Geraldine (Sanders) Pritchard who preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 57 years to Jessica Pritchard (Pittser), his three sons, Tim (Pam) Pritchard of Houston, TX, Tom (Christy) Pritchard of Westerville, OH and Scott (Becky) Pritchard of Delaware, OH.

Tom worked for Blue Cross and COTA before retiring from The Ohio State University in 2005. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army stationed in Korat, Thailand. He recently participated in the Honor Flight which was a highlight for him and his family. He was patriotic and had a love for his country and all his fellow services members. He was often seen wearing his U.S. Army Veteran hat and he always reached out to other military veterans thanking them for their service. He and his wife were even married on the 4th of July.

Active in the community, he volunteered for Picnic with the Pops, was President of Northern Columbus Athletic Association, Northland High School Athletic Boosters, and The Woods at Polaris. Tom served as Treasurer at Epworth United Methodist in Columbus for 14 years.

A special highlight in Tom's life was coaching his boys' soccer and baseball teams and although he never played soccer, was on scholarship for track at The Ohio State University where he ran the high hurdles. In that competitive spirit, he enjoyed playing poker with the guys and was a passionate Ohio State Buckeye fan.

In addition to his wife and sons, Tom is survived by his grandchildren Tessa Pritchard, Macy Pritchard, Marshall Pritchard, Peyton, Aubrey and Whitney Pritchard; brother Dr. James (Barbara) Pritchard of Worthington, brother-in-law, Bob (Meda) Pittser, sister-in-law, Nancy (David) Hertlein and many nieces and nephews.

Tom loved being around his family and friends. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandpa and adored his grandchildren. He loved going to their games and watching them perform.

Visitation will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 5100 Karl Road, Columbus OH 43229 on Sunday, May 23 from 3pm to 5pm with the memorial service immediately following.
