Thomas W. Tobin, Jr. 83, Columbus, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Tom was born in Columbus, OH to Thomas W. Tobin and Wanda (Raines) Tobin on April 14, 1929, and is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Tobin.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Norma (Guilliams) Tobin; son, Thomas W. Tobin III; brother, George A. Tobin; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; niece, nephews and many friends.
Tom served in the Marine Corp during WWII and the Korean Conflict, plus 41 years on the Bexley Police Department ending his career as Chief of Police. He was a lifetime member of FOP, Ohio Retired Police, Ohio Chiefs of Police, International Chiefs of Police, VFW, Kentucky Colonials, Masonic Mason, 32nd Scottish Rite, Shriners, China Marine and the Marine Corp League.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012, 2-5 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Monday, October 8, 2012, 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215.
