Verna Salyer

Verna Salyer, age 92, passed away on February 27, 2025. She was born on February 12, 1933 in Ophir, Kentucky to the late Ray Pennington and Beulah Jenkins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ollie F. Salyer; twin boys, and son, Ollie E. Salyer. 

She is survived by her children, Lora (Doug) Johnson, Glenda "Sue" (Mike) Pfadt, and Steve (Lajuana Gilliam) Salyer; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. 

She was married to her loving husband for 73 years. They enjoyed attending church and their church family. Some of Verna's favorite hobbies were gardening, shopping, camping, fishing, canning, with flower gardening being her favorite. She also loved hosting the holidays and attending all family events. She is known for her fried chicken and green beans. As the matriarch of the family, she will be loved and missed by everyone. 

Friends may call at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, where funeral services will then be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
