Vernell Taylor, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Vernell was born on November 22, 1937, in Raleigh, North Carolina to Sonny Oscar Baccus, Sr., and Carrie Bell Baccus (Griggs).

Vernell married Robert R. Taylor, in 1967 in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University, School of Rehabilitation for the Blind, Darkroom (X-Ray) Technician in 1961. She worked as a Darkroom Technician until her blindness caused her early retirement. She then worked for The Ohio State School for the Blind and Deaf as a reacclimation teacher helping persons recently diagnosed with blindness learn braille, how to use a cane, and other useful life skills. She retired in 1970.

Vernell is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rudolph Taylor Jr., sister, Velma Lowder, and brothers, Sonny Oscar Baccus, Jr., Eddie Baccus, Sr., and Barry Baccus.

She is survived by daughter, Vanessa A. (Floyd) McKinney, son, Steven A. (Ashley) Taylor, Grandchildren, Victoria (Jeremy) Howard, Darius McKinney, DiShon McKinney, Dequilla McKinney, brothers, Kenneth Baccus and Roger Baccus, sisters, Phoebe (Lavelle) Carter, Jeanette (Jimmy) Wills, Carolyn (Henry) Martin, and great-aunt, Virginia (Donald) Griggs Minor.
