Veronica A. Hammond, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away December 18, 2022.
She was born on April 3, 1938 to the late Leo and Loretta (Weisenberger) Schmelzer.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert Hammond; son, Patrick Hammond; brothers, Francis Schmelzer and Leo Schmelzer.
Surviving family includes, children, Thomas Hammond, Joseph (Julie) Hammond, Susie (Tom) Farrell, Karleen (Scott) Dean, Sandy (Scott) Reynolds; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, John Schmelzer, and James Schmelzer.
Veronica retired after 27 years with Columbus Public School system food service.
She enjoyed ceramics, camping, cooking, and gardening.
Veronica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be truly missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio. A second Visitation will be held at St. Matthews the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd, Columbus, OH 43230 on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at 10:00 am with Mass immediately following at 11:00am . Burial will follow in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - Lockbourne, OH.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Veronica's name to the Hospice of Central Ohio and, or the Alzheimer's Association.
