Victor Lee Aranda Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, passed away on January 17th, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on February 12th, 1947 in Scarbro, West Virginia to Jesse and Cora Aranda. Victor's passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Victor is survived by his loving wife Christina; his children Victor Jr., Angela, and Aron; his cherished grandson David; and his sister Janet. He was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Cora as well as siblings Joyce, Gloria, Eugene, and Theodore.
Moving from Scarbro to Columbus in his late teens he quickly met his future wife, Christina, in 1966. They married on February 14, 1970 and were inseparable for the next 53 years. While building a family, Victor worked as a laborer building homes for many years. He started working at The Ohio State University in 2005 until his retirement in 2015. Victor had a passion for science fiction and horror movies, virtual reality games, collecting powertools, and weekly bingo games with his wife. He became a strong supporter of the LGBT community frequenting events, shows, and supporting all in their strive for equality.
One of Victor's greatest joys was fishing with his eldest son and grandson - creating lasting memories and shared experiences that strengthened their bond through generations.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at The James MICU at The Ohio State University Hospital for their compassionate care during Victor's final days. Special appreciation goes out to Paige, Irene, and Dr Mitch whose unwavering support provided comfort during this difficult time.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at Newcomer Funeral Home 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43143 on Wednesday, January 24th from 4-8pm before gathering again for a memorial service held at 1pm on Thursday, January 25th followed by internment at Sunset Cemetery where Victor will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Victor's name to The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University or to The Humane Society.
