Virginia McDowell, 81, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born January 7, 1929, daughter of the late John and Martha Singleton. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDowell; sisters, Caroline and Martha Ridout; granddaughter, Celina Gibson; great grandson, Wyatt Birkhead. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Keith) Wheeler and Barbara Hammond; grandchildren, Michele (Craig) DuFresne, Jeffrey "Trey" (Jennifer) Birkhead, Mark (Christy) Gibson, Ben Hammond and David Hammond; great grandchildren, Ethan DuFresne, Kelsey DuFresne, Maddox Birkhead, Bryant Long, Zachary Gibson, Gabriel Gibson and Brianna Hammond. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Dennison Chapel Cemetery 1 ½ miles South of Big Plain Circleville Road on West Jefferson Kiousville Road past the West Jefferson High School.
