Marchant
Walter E. "Gene" Marchant, 85, of Columbus passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1925. Retired from Krieger Ford Body Shop; served in U.S. Navy, WWII as radioman Petty Officer 2nd Class on the USS Bunker Hill, USS Lexington, and the USS Enterprise in the south Pacific. He was a 1943 Aquinas High School graduate. Mr. Marchant was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid camper and covered bridge enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter and his mother and stepfather, Mabel and Pat Burgoon, and son, Kevin. He is survived by wife, Betty Gene; sons, Douglas, Michael (Connie Price), Rick, Jeff, and Daughter Michelle; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters; Patti Burgoon and Joan Forkin (John). Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. A celebration of life mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, February, 2, 2011 at St. James the Less, 1628 Oakland Park Ave, Columbus, OH 43224. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
