Walter L. Simon, Age 75, Columbus Ohio, went home on 12/1/2022.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 15, 1947, to his late father George and Elizabeth Simon.
He is preceded in death by his father George Simon, mother Elizabeth Simon, brothers George Simon Jr. and Donald Hickson.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Mary Simon, children Kenon Simon (Latisha Simon), Niquele Bell (Ernest Bell). Grandchildren Olivia Bell, Aaliyah and Mark Henderson. Siblings Janet Greggs, Michael Simon (Cheryl Simon), Joyceland Pride, and Joyce Simon . Along with numerous nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Walter first and foremost was a true husband to his wife and father to his children. His core being was about taking care of his family.
He was a man of very little words but didn't need them because of his actions. Simply put, he was present for his family every day and a living blueprint on what a husband and parent should be.
He worked 6-7 days a week his entire working life to provide for his family. He was a plumber by trade for over 50 years, first at AL Wing & Son's before eventually branching off to start his own company.
The "little jobs" were always the most valuable to him. After working full days, it was very common for him to receive a phone call, or for us to hear a knock at the door from someone in the neighborhood with an issue.
Regardless of the hour or even if the job was too expensive for the person, Walter would complete the job in most cases for free or with very little costs. This was his heart and his way of giving back to his community where he was born and raised for 75 years.
Walter was an Air Force Veteran and shared this love for service through the entire family where most of his brothers and nephews were members of the Armed Forces. Walter also loved the Cleveland Browns, OSU basketball and football, working on cars, fishing and bowling.
Visitation will be held on December 14th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with Funeral Services immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231.
