Wayne Lee Mathys, 87, of Lockbourne, Ohio passed away December 3, 2021. He was born May 3, 1934 in Bourbon, Indiana to the late Loren C. and Georgia (Helterbrand) Mathys.
He is survived by wife of 67 years Patricia Lee (Rosser) Mathys; son, James Alan Mathys; granddaughter, Holly Nicole Mathys Brown; grandson, James Mathys; great-grandchildren, Kemp J. Brown, Isabelle Brown, and Kian Brown.
Wayne worked at Pilot Dogs Inc. for over 50 years. He attended the Bible Baptist Church for over 20 years. He has been a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church since January, 25 2004.
He was led to the Lord at our kitchen table October 16, 1975 by Pastor Joe Rock. Wayne was baptized on October 19 of that year. He served at Bible Baptist Church as a Deacon, SS Teacher, and a Bus Captain. Wayne volunteered in the Maternity Resource Center at the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Wayne spent most of his vacations camping in the Smokey Mountains or Michigan Lakes. He enjoyed the companionship of "Sam the Man", his Dachshund of 16 years and "Blackie" the black lab during "their" retirement.
Much appreciation to the staff of MCMH on the 5th floor (especially the O.T. Prophets) for their care, consideration, and compassion during the recent months.
A memorial service will be held on December, 30, 2021 from 5pm to the time of the service at 6pm at the Immanuel Baptist Church.
